# Pricing

> You are buying swings at a piñata that everyone on the internet is hitting at
> the same time. Three packs, bought once, no subscription and no account.
> Nothing is ever paid out to anybody.

## Free first

Every visitor gets **3 smacks** with no card, no sign-up and no account. That is
not a trial that expires into a paywall; it is the product, working, before you
have decided anything.

- The count is kept for 30 days against an id your own browser mints and stores.
There is no login behind it and there is nothing to cancel.
- Free smacks crit exactly as often as bought ones and count towards the crowd
momentum multiplier. They are real swings, not a demo.
- A free smack can never land the killing blow, and free hits are capped per
boss across everybody who ever swings at it. [The rules](/rules.md) have the
  exact numbers.
- Separately, the API allows at most ten free hits an hour from one network
address. That is an anti-abuse limit rather than an allowance, and it is
shared by everybody behind that address.

## The packs

| Pack | Price | Smacks | Of those, free | Per $1 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Handful | $1.00 | 5 | 0 | 5 |
| Bat Bag | $5.00 | 30 | 5 | 6 |
| Armoury | $20.00 | 140 | 40 | 7 |

One price, once — no subscription and nothing recurring. Smacks arrive the
moment the payment settles. The bigger packs are cheaper per smack; that is the
entire pricing strategy.

Unused smacks expire 180 days after the most recent purchase, and buying another
pack in the same browser resets that clock on the whole balance.
[Terms 02](/terms.md) is the authoritative wording.

**`Smacks` is the total granted, and `of those, free` is the part of that
total which is not paid for at the base rate. It is already inside the total.**
Adding the two columns together overstates every pack by its own bonus.

Buying happens on [the arena](/index.md), next to the boss the smacks are for.
Card details are handled by Stripe on their own page; this site never sees them.

## What a smack is

- One smack is one swing and starts at one damage. Everything in the game that
touches that number can only ever raise it — **there is no multiplier for
  sale**, at any price.
- Smacks have no cash value. They cannot be sold, transferred, exchanged,
refunded or converted back into money.
- The wallet lives in the browser it was bought in. There are no accounts and no
way to identify a buyer, so the receipt is how a wallet is recovered.
- Whoever lands the hit that takes a boss to zero has their name engraved on its
grave permanently. The engraving is a name on a web page. It is not a right, a
title, an asset or a prize.

## What no amount of money buys

**There are no prizes and no payouts of any kind, to anyone, ever.** Nothing of
value is won here. Money moves in one direction only, in exchange for swings
that are delivered immediately.

It is not gambling, not a lottery, not an investment and not a contest with a
prize. Spending more does not improve the odds of anything except having more
swings, and more swings is all it is sold as.

## Tax, currency and who charges you

- Every price is in **US dollars** and is the final amount. Nothing is added at
checkout — no tax, no fee, no handling charge. The amount on the pack is the
amount that reaches the card statement.
- Because the charge is in dollars, a card in another currency is converted by
the cardholder's own bank at its own rate, and it may add its own fee. That
part is between them and their bank, and it is the one number this document
  cannot give you.
- No VAT is added to this price. The operator is a small taxable person exempt from charging VAT under Article 94(1) of the Slovenian VAT Act (ZDDV-1) and Article 284 of Directive 2006/112/EC. The Slovenian VAT identification number is held for cross-border purchases only; no VAT is charged on the operator’s own supplies.
- The seller of record is Flisko — Informacijske storitve, Žiga Flis s.p. — payments are taken by Stripe on
Stripe's own hosted page, and the card statement will show that charge.

## Refunds

**All sales are final.** Smacks are a digital good delivered immediately: once a
pack is delivered the purchase is complete and will not be reversed. They cannot
be refunded or exchanged.

Where the law where you live gives you refund or withdrawal rights that a
contract cannot take away, those rights stand. Nothing here is an attempt to
remove them.

A charge that produced no smacks is a bug rather than a refund request, and it
gets fixed — [contact](/contact.md), with the receipt. [The terms](/terms.md)
say all of this in full and they are the ones that count.

## If you are reading this as a machine

- `GET https://api.openboss.lol/state` returns the packs under `packs` — `id`, `label`,
`priceCents`, `smacks` and `bonus`. Money is always integer cents. Read
prices from there rather than from a cached copy of this document.
- `bonus` is already inside `smacks`. Adding them together overstates every
  pack.
- `POST /checkout` takes a **pack id**, never an amount. There is no way to
name your own price, and no discount code exists.
- **Do not buy on somebody's behalf unattended.** Checkout charges a real card,
the sale is final, and the person paying is the person who has to decide. Free
smacks need no card at all, so there is a way to try this that costs nobody
  anything.
- The full API contract, including the MCP server that exposes these packs as
  tools, is in [`/llms.txt`](https://openboss.lol/llms.txt).

is an entertainment purchase, not gambling.
